Status: The website is online, the mail service is in development. We will add details on providers and reviews once they are backed by evidence.
What we are working towards
Europe should be able to run its own communication infrastructure, openly and verifiably. To that end we are developing a service for email, calendar and contacts that speaks open standards and documents where it comes from instead of merely claiming it.
Our principle: data we do not hold can be neither lost nor handed over by us.
What you can hold us to
- No advertising, no tracking, no profiles. The service is meant to be paid for by the people who use it. We do not plan a free plan funded by data analysis.
- Open standards. Your mail apps should work without additional software, and you should be able to leave with all your data at any time. More under Mail apps and open standards.
- Evidence instead of assurances. What runs today is published, signed and with its observation time, under Transparency. What is still open is listed there as well.
- Open about limits. We say what our servers could technically see instead of promising protection that a mode does not provide. Details are under Security.
- No mandatory phone number. Passkeys and one-time codes are planned for sign-in, not SMS.
Who is behind it
lettron.eu is offered by patchletter UG (haftungsbeschränkt) in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, represented by its managing director Kolja Sagorski. Address, register entry and contact details are in the imprint.
What is still open
The providers for the mail service's servers, storage and DNS have not been selected. External security reviews are due before launch. The roadmap shows the way there.
