Built so your mail stays yours.
Four goals for the mail service we are developing.
Two levels of protection
The plan is a choice per folder: Compatible with server-side processing or Sealed with OpenPGP on your device. We explain the differences openly.
No ads
The plan is funding through subscriptions. Advertising and analysing your mail are not part of the business model.
Europe as the goal
The operator is patchletter UG in Germany. Verified EU providers are planned for the mail service; selection and contracts remain open.
Open source
Planned: publishing webmail, encryption and key processing under free licenses.
Transparency
The website state is documented. Regular government-request reports are planned for the mail service.
An address people remember.
Planned: your own address. Or your own domain.
The planned Domain Autopilot is intended to set up and monitor MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MTA-STS. The selection here is a preview, not registration.
Secure without settings.
We are developing these protections for the future mail service. They are not yet publicly available.
Prefer TLS 1.3; check DANE and MTA-STS when sending.
Encryption with a separate key for each account.
Passkeys and a second factor. No SMS.
Sealed folders using OpenPGP on your device.
Europe is the goal. Evidence comes with it.
We aim to run the mail service with verified European providers. For today's website, we show the evidenced state and identify open questions.
All providers and dependencies →The hosting provider, data centre and DNS operator still need to be confirmed.
Read the code
The website software is documented. Free releases of webmail, encryption and our tools are planned.
Open source overview →Simple plans.
Provisional prices. SEPA and bank transfer are planned.
Questions
Can I keep my current address?
Importing existing mail over IMAP and moving your own domain are planned. An address with another provider remains there; forwarding depends on that provider's features.
Do you read my email?
The mail service has not launched. In the planned Compatible mode, the server processes plain text temporarily, for example for spam checks. Sealed is intended to encrypt content on your device. The security page explains the technical limits.
Can I use my own domain?
Custom domains are intended to be included from the planned Pro tier. Domain Autopilot is intended to generate and monitor the relevant DNS records. These features are not yet available.
What happens when authorities ask for data?
A legally reviewed policy with user notification where permitted and regular reports is planned for the mail service. An operator-confirmed request report is not yet available.
When does it launch?
The service is in development. External security reviews come first. We will name a date once they are passed.
Mail that answers to European law.
No ads, no tracking. We will announce the launch here.
